What do we keep about you?

Very little, for a short time, and only to run the evenings. Here is the whole list, with no small print hiding at the bottom.

The short version

Why we ask at all

When you join, a volunteer needs to know your name, how to reach you and what sort of games you like, so they can write back with a night and a table. That's all the Mob needs, and it's all the form requires. Anything else you add is a gift, and you can leave it blank without anyone noticing.

We aren't a company and we don't run on advertising, so there's no reason for us to collect more than that. The details sit in a private inbox and a roster that only the volunteers who need them can open, and they never go anywhere else.

In detail

Every item, in order

What the forms collect

The joining form asks for your name, an email address and the kind of games you enjoy. You may add a nickname, a note about access needs and a few words about yourself. We never ask for your date of birth, your address or your job. Replying to a message from you means we hold the message too.

How long we keep it

While you're a member, plus six months after you stop turning up, so a returning player doesn't have to start over. Then the entry is deleted from the roster and the inbox. Photos taken at the hub stay on the wall until the people in them ask for them to come down.

Who sees it

Only the volunteers who need it: the person who replies to the form, the moderator and, if you enter a league, the referee. The company that operates this website, named on the meet-the-crew page and in the footer, can see the same messages on the system that carries them. Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers or used to profile anyone.

What you can ask for

You may ask what we hold, ask for a correction, ask us to stop writing to you or ask for everything to be deleted. Send an email from the address you joined with and a volunteer will answer in writing, normally within a week, without making you explain why.

What we use it for

To write back to you, to plan the tables, to run the leagues if you enter them and to tell members when a night changes. That's it. We don't send marketing, we don't pass details to other clubs and we don't run surveys behind your back.

Why we're allowed to

Mostly because you asked us to, by ticking the box on the form. Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can take that agreement back at any time, and we'll stop using your details from that day.
